Child Dental Benefits Schedule

How to Access Free or Low-Cost Dental Services for Your Kids
Do you have children aged 2 to 17 who are eligible for Medicare and receive certain government payments? If so, you may be able to access free or low-cost dental services for them under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
The CDBS program funded by the Australian government covers part or all of the cost of some basic dental services for eligible children. The CDBS aims to improve Australian children’s oral health and well-being and reduce the social inequalities in dental care.

The CDBS covers up to $1,052 per child over two calendar years (check with Services Australia on the latest amount) for dental services such as:

• Check-ups and cleanings

• X-rays
• Fillings
• Fissure sealants
• Root canal treatments
• Extractions

The CDBS does not cover orthodontic, cosmetic, or hospital dental services.

At O’Connor Dental Surgery, we are proud to participate in the CDBS and provide high-quality dental care to eligible children. We use the latest technology and techniques to ensure your child’s comfort and satisfaction. We also work with you to create a personalised treatment plan that meets your child’s needs and goals.

To access the CDBS, you need to:

  • Check your child’s eligibility by contacting Services Australia or visiting their website

• Book an appointment with us and let us know that you want to use the CDBS

• Bring your Medicare card and your child’s details to the appointment
• Sign a consent form and a bulk bill form before the treatment
• Pay nothing or only the difference between the CDBS benefit and our fee, depending on the service
The CDBS is a great way to keep your child’s teeth and gums healthy and prevent dental problems in the future. By visiting us regularly and following our advice, you can ensure your child’s smile and health are in good shape.
